The field of Micro Aerial Vehicles is gaining an important interest from the scientific, industrial and hobbyist communities. These flying systems can be of high value in surveillance, search, rescue and many other missions. The multidisciplinary nature of MAVs makes it challenging for a research group to master the numerous related scientific problems. Therefore, workshops which regroup scientists from different disciplines of aerial vehicles represent an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss progress and challenges. The proposed workshop is such an opportunity. It will focus on several research questions on fixed-wing, rotary-wing and other types of MAVs, especially identifying mature and promising technologies that will bridge the gap between research and market-ready MAVs. The workshop shall also help to identify current and future challenges and review future research directions. This event will be the meeting place for aerial-robotic researchers who are interested in theoretical and practical problems of MAVs.
Prospective participants should submit an extended abstract (max. 2 pages, see extended abstract TEMPLATE for word. PDF generated with Latex is also accepted if a similar template is used) describing recent and innovative work. Authors of selected extended abstracts will be invited to give an oral presentation. All submissions are due in PDF format to Samir Bouabdallah, samir.bouabdallah(AT)ieee.org.
In parallel to the oral presentations, an MAV related poster-session is organized within the workshop room. Submission of a poster is independent from the oral presentations, so please submit either a poster of an extended abstract. The poster must be in A1 FORMAT.

July 13th, 2009 -- Extended abstract / poster submission
July 31st, 2009 -- Notification of acceptance
August 28th, 2009 -- Camera ready submission (Extended!)
October 2009 -- Deadline for registration (please see conference website for details)
October 11th, 2009 -- Workshop (Sunday!)
Authors of selected extended abstracts will be invited to do an oral presentation. The extended abstracts will be collected (latest August 28th) and uploaded to PaperPlaza for inclusion in IROS 2009 Workshop/Tutorial CD/DVD. In addition to the abstracts, the speakers can send to the organizers any related material they would which to include on the CD/DVD. There is a quota of 25MB per speaker.
On the other hand, the slides of the presentations and video will be collected during the workshop. This material will be published on the workshop webpage afterwards.
